Module I - The Individual

Content

Our experience in China has clearly indicated that most leadership issues are related to Self-Development and Working Relationship. Therefore, when we look at current Bertelsmann China’s leaders’ development needs, we not only pay great attention to skills, we also have a strong desire to understand their basic growth needs in areas of self-confidence and basic interpersonal attitude.
This module firstly tackles the current leadership issues from a perspective of developing underlying psychological maturity and provides participants with a systematic approach to increase self-awareness, which could then lead them to be more proactive in self-development and better understanding of others.
By the end of this module participants will be able to:

  • have increased awareness of their personality, style and psychological development road map
  • state their gifted competence strengths and weakness
  • understand differences between people and adjust their style and approach to work with team members
  • exercise assertiveness in responding to work situations
  • Discover the underlying factors of behaviors/experience for in-depth self-awareness
Method
  • MBTI personality test
  • Group discussions and role plays
  • Career Anchor peer interviews
  • Facilitator input (lectures, demos, debriefing, etc.)
  • Life case studies and coaching by peers as well as by facilitator
  • Reciprocal feedback

Fundamentally, we do not see the trainer as a 'teacher' with superior knowledge, but instead as someone who facilitates and supports. Their primary expertise is in shaping learning processes.

Target Group/Basic Requirements
  • Managers with leadership roles
  • Those identified as “high potentials” and expected to progress quickly.
  • > 1 year working experience with Bertelsmann
