Module II - Leading Teams for Innovation and Performance
Content
The second module focuses on the role of the leader in motivating teams and harnessing collective capacity for innovation and performance. There is a focus on building individual’s emotional fluency through developing rapport and engagement competencies. During this module, we increase the onus on delegates to build trusting and supportive relationships and to work together in Challenge and Support groups to make sense of the models and concepts introduced through experiential learning and group reflection.
Throughout this module, we will explore the following questions:
- How can you use the skills of listening, reflecting and insightful probing to analyse and resolve difficult issues?
- How do you as a leader ensure you provide the right amount of support and motivation to meet the development levels of your individual followers?
- What is your role in fostering innovation and creating a performance culture?
- How can you motivate others by being:
- clear in your facts
- passionate in your delivery
- inspirational in your presence?
- What type of communication promotes an innovative and learning culture?
- How can you build team capability through one to one coaching?
Method
- Interactive discussions
- First hand case studies and coaching by peer group as well as by facilitators
- Facilitator input (lectures, exercises, facilitated role-plays etc.)
- Reciprocal feedback
- Experiential learning methods
Fundamentally, we do not see the trainer as a 'teacher' with superior knowledge, but instead as someone who facilitates and supports. Their primary expertise is in shaping learning processes. Coaches will adjust to the needs of the individual and/or group to ensure the best outcome for all.
