Free E-learning Offer for all Employees

Many Bertelsmann employees already have access to peoplenet, others will be receiving over the next weeks and months. In this context, Bertelsmann employees worldwide will also have access to more than 5,000 online video courses from the international e-learning service provider lynda.com.

Today, the roll-out of lynda.com starts at various Bertelsmann companies. These employees can now register for various lynda.com training courses free of charge on peoplenet. Since the catalog of video courses is constantly expanding, many more courses will be added over time.

Bertelsmann CHRO Immanuel Hermreck and his team, in agreement with the divisional Heads of HR, have negotiated a Group-wide partnership with lynda.com, the world's leading producer of video-based learning content. With this offer, Bertelsmann underlines the importance of well-qualified employees for the success of its businesses. “The education and training of our employees is a top priority for us,” says Hermreck. “We are hoping to promote the joy that can be derived from continuous learning by making this comprehensive offer available to everybody. It is true that well-trained employees are an important cornerstone for the implementation of our corporate strategy.” The costs for the courses are covered centrally, which means there is no charge for local cost centers or individual employees.

The online video courses allow participants to acquire knowledge about new subject areas in a highly effective way, anytime, anywhere and even at an instance’s notice: “E-learning has long since moved beyond webinars,” says Chief Learning Officer Steven Moran. “Today, there are online lectures and explanatory videos that make learning and broadening your knowledge entertaining and fun. So I’m very pleased that we can significantly expand our current learning options with lynda.com on peoplenet, and consequently play an active role in the digital transformation.”

Courses in English, German, French and Spanish

This is the idea that lynda.com has seized. Founded in 1995, over the past twenty years, the California-based e-learning provider lynda.com has built up a library of more than 5,000 video courses in the areas of business skills, business software, graphic design, leadership & management and marketing. The courses are offered in various languages, including German, English, French and Spanish. However, not every course is available in all four languages.

The lynda.com offer can be accessed via peoplenet . To register, all you need is your peoplenet login data. The lynda.com video courses can be assigned by supervisors as well as independently selected by each employee, taking into account the local regulations on working hours.

In the U.S., where Penguin Random House employees have used lynda.com for several years, course participants are enthusiastic: “lynda.com is a wonderful resource. With over 3,000 online tutorials, the breadth of material continues to surprise me.” says Rebecca Kilman, Learning and Development Coordinator at Penguin Random House in New York. “There is something for almost every learner at every level.” Her colleague Erica Timm, Director Apps & Process Training, says: “With lynda.com, I can jump straight to the sections of a course that are most relevant to me.
